ΤΙΜΕΣ ΚΑΙ ΦΠΑ
Prices and VAT
The short version: if you are in the European Union, the price you see includes VAT. If you are outside it, the price you see does not include Greek VAT, and any import duties and taxes are added at checkout and paid by us. The rest of this page explains why.
Two rates of Greek VAT
| Class | Rate | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Food | 13% | Saffron, mastiha, pistachios, currants, honey, olive oil, mountain tea. Our accountant is confirming the rate for herbal tea. |
| Standard | 24% | Crafts and goods: silver, marble, pottery, knives, textiles, wood, komboloi, sponges. |
Buying from inside the EU
Prices include VAT. While our total cross-border sales to consumers in other EU countries stay at or below EUR 10,000 a year, Greek VAT applies: 13% on food and 24% on goods.
From the sale that takes us over that threshold, EU rules require us to charge the VAT rate of your country instead, and to report it through the One Stop Shop (OSS). For example, Germany applies 19% on most goods and 7% on most food. The threshold rules are due to change in January 2027. When we cross the threshold we will publish on this page whether shelf prices change by country or stay the same, with the date the change applies.
Buying from outside the EU
At launch we ship outside the EU to the United States, Canada and Australia. Exports from Greece to those countries are zero-rated for Greek VAT. Charging you Greek VAT would be wrong, so prices for those destinations are shown without it.
Your destination may charge its own import duties and taxes. We calculate them at checkout and pay them for you (Delivered Duty Paid), so the courier does not ask the recipient for money at the door. The United Kingdom is not open at launch. For UK orders of GBP 135 or less, UK VAT has to be collected at checkout, so the UK opens only after our UK VAT registration. Other countries outside the EU are not shipped at launch.
Region boxes: every item keeps its own VAT line
A box can hold food and goods at different rates. Each item appears on its own VAT line, and any box discount is spread across the lines in proportion to their full prices.
| Line | Full price | Line price in the box | VAT rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chania farmer’s knife | EUR 95.00 | EUR 90.00 | 24% |
| Kolymvari Chanion Kritis PDO oil | EUR 19.00 | EUR 18.00 | 13% |
| Box | EUR 114.00 | EUR 108.00 |
The shipping charge on a mixed basket is split across VAT classes in the same proportion. Our accountant is confirming this method before launch.
