Working crafts
Living regional crafts with no legal protection: Chania knives, Anogeia weaving, Soufli silk, Metsovo woodcarving, Nafplio-tradition komboloi and Kalymnos sponges. Each record reads: origin based on supplier audit. Greek VAT at 24%.
No register covers these crafts, so there is nothing official to link. What each record can show is how the object is made and how a copy gives itself away. Stamped mass-made blades with printed engravings and plastic handles imitate the Chania knife. CNC-routed spoons repeat identically from piece to piece. Bright yellow sponges have been bleached. Genuine faturan stopped being made in the 1940s, so a new faturan komboloi is a warning sign, and polyester satin fails the burn test for silk. Origin rests on our supplier audit, as described in The Record.
