About this object

What it is

Forty grams of whole dried stems, leaves and flowers of Sideritis, known in Greece as τσάι του βουνού (mountain tea). About 17 Sideritis species grow in Greek mountains, and the European Medicines Agency has published herbal assessments of several of them.

Where and how it is made

The Mount Olympus area, on the Central Macedonia (GR-B) or Thessaly (GR-E) side depending on the grower we sign. The Olympus species, Sideritis scardica, is listed by the IUCN as Near Threatened. For that reason we sell only cultivated, certified-organic stock, never wild-picked plants. Stems are packed whole in a rigid sleeve so they do not break into dust.

How to use it

Break a few stems into a pot, pour over boiling water and steep for five to ten minutes. Add a spoon of fir honey if you like.

What we have not verified yet

Mountain tea has no geographical indication, so its origin rests on supplier audit. No grower is signed. Maker: [partner to be sourced]. The price is an estimate, and an accountant still has to confirm that herbal tea takes the 13% food VAT rate. No Australia without a BICON check. US orders need FDA Prior Notice.
