The address
Attica Αττική
The region of Athens and the Saronic Gulf islands. PINAX skips the monuments and goes to the orchards of Aegina.
About this object
What it is
A 227 g pack of in-shell pistachios, roasted with sea salt, registered as Fystiki Aiginas, an EU Protected Designation of Origin. It was registered in 1996 (Regulation (EC) No 1263/96). The shells split naturally and the kernel is green.
Where and how it is made
The orchards are on Aegina, an island in the Saronic Gulf that belongs to Attica (GR-I), around Aegina town, Kypseli, Messagros, Vathy and Perdika. The trees grow in volcanic soil.
How to use it
Shell and eat as they are, or chop the kernels over yoghurt, rice or baked fish. Contains nuts.
What we have not verified yet
No PDO packer is signed. Maker: [partner to be sourced]. Much of the pistachio sold on Aegina itself is not from the island, so we will list only packs carrying the PDO name. A cited retailer sells the same size at €13.50 before VAT (€15.26 with 13%); our price is set against that, not against a quote. The item stays in being verified with a waitlist until the packer is signed.
